The Seattle Seahawks have re-signed former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Easton Gibbs, the team announced on Wednesday. The Steelers released Gibbs shortly after their game against the Houston Texans after signing him last week.
Gibbs was with the Seahawks before he came to the Steelers, so he is heading back to a familiar spot. The former Wyoming star went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft and is trying to find a home to call his own. He played well at the East-West Shrine Bowl and was an NFL Combine invite, but that did not get him drafted in the 2024 NFL Draft.
With the Steelers, he struggled to grasp on quickly. In the game against the Texans, he appeared out of position on multiple snaps, and on his first day of training camp, he had a tough go of it in the one-on-one coverage drills.
The Steelers signed Luquay Washington to replace Gibbs. While Washington has not been a star at training camp, he has appeared competitive and certainly has athleticism, making him a unique standout in any linebacker room. It seems that Pittsburgh will look to tap into that as he develops. Washington could be a contender for the Steelers practice squad if he performs well in the next two preseason games.
