I Think Grant Ellis Could Be A Boring Bachelor (Was He The Best Choice?)

The Bachelor franchise announced that its newest lead is The Bachelorette season 21’s Grant Ellis, who was recently eliminated from Jenn Tran’s season, but I believe he could be a boring BachelorHaving made his mark on Bachelor Nation throughout The Bachelorette season 21, Grant has been creating some buzz with the viewers of the season. A 30-year-old day trader, Grant’s time on the series has been overshadowed by some of the bigger figures of the season like Devin Strader and Sam McKinney. Though Grant has been memorable enough to get the Bachelor spot, he hasn’t shown his full personality.

ABC's New Bachelor Is 'Bachelorette' Contestant Grant Ellis

Throughout Bachelor history, the leads of the series have been taken from the previous season of the opposite iteration of the series. The Bachelor typically comes from the previous season of The Bachelorette, and vice versa, but this rule has created some painstakingly boring seasons of the shows. While Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants often feel dynamic and exciting throughout their seasons when they’re hopeful to resonate with the lead, the change from contestant to lead often makes things more difficult. Needing to be more diplomatic, the dynamic personalities seen on screen often get lost between contestant status and lead status.

Grant Was Sweet On Jenn’s Season Of The Bachelorette

He Was Kind & Vulnerable

Throughout The Bachelorette season 21, Jenn has been searching for love with a group of guys who have been open and vulnerable mostly, discluding the season's villains. While there have been some difficult men who have been vying for Jenn’s affection, Grant has been sweet throughout his time on The BacheloretteWhile there hasn’t been much of Grant’s personality shown off in one-on-one time, what has been seen proves that he’s kind, open, and ready to find real love. While Jenn shared she couldn’t see herself going the distance with Grant, she felt it was more on her than him.

Grant’s Storyline On The Bachelorette Wasn’t Dynamic

There Wasn’t Much Substance To His Story

After nearly an entire season of The Bacheloretteit’s been interesting that there still isn’t much of a backstory that Bachelor Nation has been able to glean for Grant. The show has provided a bit of information from his time with Jenn, with Grant having shared that he was in a long-term relationship prior to his stint on the show. After splitting with his girlfriend of seven years, Grant’s mother signed him up for The Bachelorette and he chose to participate. A former basketball player, Grant’s life seems relaxed, but his story coming into The Bachelor doesn’t seem dynamic enough.

Grant Could Be A Boring Bachelor

He Hasn’t Proven To Be Exciting

I believe that from what we’ve seen on The Bachelorette season 21, Grant may not be dynamic enough to be an exciting Bachelor lead. Though Grant seems like a kind, genuine man who is hoping to find long-term love, The Bachelor is first and foremost a reality TV show. The drama that’s required to fuel a reality TV series, at times, comes from the lead. While Bachelor Nation leads tend to be diplomatic on the show, the fact that Grant has given little on The Bachelorette makes me feel like he might be a very boring part of The Bachelor.
